Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get the most accurate identification?
For best results, take multiple photos from different angles. Make sure the rock is well-lit and in focus. Including your hand or a coin in the photo helps us estimate the size for more accurate value estimates.
How accurate are the value estimates?
Our value estimates are based on analysis of real web listings and market data. They provide a good general range but should not be considered professional appraisals. For valuable specimens, we recommend consulting a certified gemologist.
How do I cancel my subscription?
To cancel your subscription, go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone, then select Rock Identifier and tap "Cancel Subscription." Your premium access will continue until the end of your current billing period.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Open Rock Identifier on your new device and go to the Premium screen. Tap "Restore Purchases" to restore your subscription. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to make the original purchase.
Why can't the app identify my rock?
Some specimens may be difficult to identify from photos alone, especially if they're weathered, broken, or uncommon. Try taking clearer photos with better lighting. If identification fails, the AI will suggest the closest matches it can find.
Is my data private?
Yes! Photos you take are processed for identification and not stored on our servers. Your collection and history are stored locally on your device. We don't require an account or collect personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How do I delete my identification history?
You can delete individual items from your history by opening the item and tapping "Remove from History" at the bottom. You can also long-press on items in the History tab to delete them.
